'Haqiqatul-Wahi' in Malayalam
Last month, the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam International announced the publication of the first part of ‘Haqiqatul-‘Wahi’ (The Philosophy of Divine Revelations) in Malayalam. This classic of Ahmadiyya spiritual literature, written by the Promised Massih (as) in the last century was long available only in its original Urdu and Arabic editions, and the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya has finally unveiled an English edition of the work last week, almost 110 years after the Book was originally published. The Malayalam translation of the Book from the Arabic was accomplished by Mukarram Amir Jamaluddin Raother Saheb of the South Kerala Jamaat, Alhamdulillah, Summa Alhamdulillah.
Reproduced below is the text of the Introduction to the Malayalam Translation:
“Haqiqat-ul-Wahi”is one of the most remarkable works of the Promised Massih and Mahdi Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) of Qadian (1835-1908 CE).Written in May 1907 in Urdu and Arabic; the Book in many ways consolidates the saintly author’s life time of engagement with, and profound study of, the spiritual phenomenon of Divine revelations. In the social and religious context (of India and elsewhere) where dreams and other psychic phenomenon that the humans experience often confuse common people about the true nature of spiritual illumination and mislead them into giving credence to psychic illusions and there is a crying need for clear guidance on how to distinguish between false claimants and the Divinely-imbued souls in the path of the Exalted Being; the Promised Massih (as) makes this important contribution to our collective understanding on mystical realities surrounding dreams, visions and revelations.
Explaining the rationale for writing the Book, the Promised Massih (as) states: “I felt the need to write this book because during this age a grave evil has arisen—in the very same manner that hundreds of other kinds of evils and innovations have arisen—and it is that most people are unaware of the stage and condition in which a dream or revelation can be worthy and reliable, and the circumstances in which there lies the danger that those may be the words of Satan, not God—or the speaking of the self, not the speaking of the Lord. It ought to be remembered that Satan is a staunch enemy of man. He wants to destroy man through diverse means. It is entirely possible that a dream be true and yet emanate from Satan, and it is possible that a revelation be true and yet originate from Satan, because although Satan is the greatest liar, he sometimes deceives by saying something true in order to snatch one’s faith....it is a pity that there are many people who are still seized in the clutches of Satan, and yet, trusting their dreams and revelations, seek to give glory to their false doctrines and corrupted religions through those dreams and revelations....Therefore, I thought it proper to pen this treatise to distinguish truth from falsehood.”(pp.5-6;emphasis added)
The present work, entitled “Haqiqat-ul-Wahi-Part I” is a Malayalam Translation of the first three Chapters of the Book. In the words of the writer himself: “Chapter I relates to those people who occasionally experience true dreams or revelations, but do not enjoy a relationship with God in the least. Chapter II relates to those people who occasionally experience true dreams or revelations and have some relationship with God—though not to a great extent. Chapter III relates to those people who receive revelation from God Almighty in its purest and most perfect form and who are honoured with divine communion and discourse in all its perfection. Such people experience dreams that are as clear as daybreak. Like God’s chosen Prophets and Messengers, they have a most perfect, consummate, and pure relationship with God Almighty.”(p.9)
The Malayalam Translation of the present book from the Arabic is accomplished by Mukarram Amir Jamaluddin Raother Saheb of the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, South Kerala. The spiritual and intellectual inspiration to accomplish this work came from our Holy Imam- Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam, Hadhrat Muhyi-ud-Din Al Khalifatullah Munir Ahmad Azim Saheb (atba) of Mauritius. Hadhrat Saheb (atba) gave a far-sighted instruction to the Kerala Jamaat to initiate the Translation of this important work of the Promised Massih (as) into Malayalam at a moment in history when the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya (Qadian), despite its vast resources and networks of scholars within the Nizam-e-Jamaat and also in Kerala, is yet to execute the publication of all books of the Promised Massih (as) in the language. Alhamdulillah, the Jamaat Ul Sahih Al Islam in Kerala has the pleasure and privilege of accomplishing this unfinished task, albeit not fully but in an important way now. Indeed, the translation of the remaining parts of the work is in progress and in the meanwhile, we are pleased to present the first installment of this spiritually-elevating Book before the Malayalam-reading public, Summa Alhamdulillah.
